Vi kender alle sammen den sandfærdige historie bag bag USS Indianapolis. Det er nemlig samme skib og samme skæbnesvangre mission, som Quint fortæller om i Jaws. USS Indianapolis var skibet, der fik til opgave at levere den første atombombe, der skulle bruges mod japanerne. Den blev sænket af en japansk ubåd, og flere hundrede sømænd måtte overleve i det hajfyldte vand i 5 dage, mens de ventede på at blive reddet. Nicolas Cage spiller skibets kaptajn. Det er nogle gange lidt svært at vide, om man skal tage hans film alvorligt eller ej, men det gælder ikke denne. Det er en gravalvorlig og meget modbydelig historie.
